NEW YORK McDonald's eked out a higher profit for its fourth quarter, even as a slowdown in customer traffic dragged down a key sales figure.The world's biggest hamburger chain says global sales slipped 0.1 percent at established locations. In the U.S., where it recently revamped its Dollar Menu, the figure fell 1.4 percent.

The parent of United Airlines says fourth-quarter net income totaled $140 million as more passengers flew, and paid more for their tickets. The airline's fuel bill also shrank.

DALLAS Southwest Airlines is making more money thanks to a lower fuel bill and higher average fares.The company said Thursday that fourth-quarter net income was $212 million, up from $78 million a year earlier.
